Born 1987, Jamie Morrison is an artist from South Wales.

His work explores relationships of cultural narratives and shared rituals that question emotional connection and social connotations.

Often biographically, his art reflects a personal endeavor to learn what the juxtaposition between loaded symbolism and banal surroundings may convey.

He is drawn to contrast between intimacy and theatrics, between celebration and remembrance.

Morrison questions, “Where are you safe in these parameters, where is your home now?”

His art takes influence from an adolescence immersed in the counter culture of punk and a schooling via ‘Beautiful Losers’ as a spring board to the greats like Hockney and Matisse.

The application of paint constructed as a ‘basement tape demo’ recording nods to pop culture and folk music influence.

Jamie’s paintings feature block colors of vibrance with muted emotion - making loud choices while whispering about worldly issues not yet fully understood.
